Lab

Inside a Module, Lab is where you create Echo, Spark, Flux, and other activities. Practice goes to Playground; Proper assessment goes to Workshop.

What Lab is for

Lab is your create bench inside a Module you have already set up. Design and publish here. Practice packs go to that Module’s Playground. Proper assessment goes to Workshop.

As a teacher, pick an app card (Echo, Spark, Flux, and so on), complete setup, and assign into the Module you are teaching. Opening Lab from a Module shows Creating for Module and carries that Module into the wizard. Students do not create class assessments from Lab — they use Student Lab for private practice, which appears under Playground → Your practice. On Indi, Learners often create their own practice from the same Lab (see Indi families).

  • Lab is for creating and publishing learning activities
  • Practice goes to Module Playground (Class practice); Proper assessment goes to Module Workshop
  • Marking and moderation sit in Fission; the class AI helper is Oracle in the Module footer — neither is created from Lab

Where Lab fits in the Module

Think of the Module as the topic shelf and Lab as the create bench on that shelf. Footer tabs run Lab → Playground → Revision → Workshop. You create in Lab. Workshop holds assessments. Playground holds class practice plus private student packs.

How you use Lab

  1. Pick a class in the sidebar. You should already have at least one Module (see the Modules guide).
  2. On the class home, open the Module you are teaching this week.
  3. Use the Module footer → Lab (you should see Creating for Module with the title).
  4. Click a tool card — Echo, Spark, Flux, Foundry, and so on.
  5. Work through setup. The Module is already selected; choose Practice or Proper assessment, an optional due date, whether Oracle is allowed, and how Socrates should coach.
  6. Publish or assign. Practice cards appear under Playground → Class practice; assessments appear in Workshop.
  7. Students open the same Module → Playground or Workshop to do the work. You chase submissions and open results from the task cards.
Success looks like this: you created inside a Module, assigned the task, and the card appears in Playground (Practice) or Workshop (Proper assessment).

What you can create from Lab

The main apps sit at the front of the Lab shelf. Foundry follows an In Testing marker — usable, still being proven. Trace, Arcade, Jury, and Latch sit after Coming soon (dimmed until ready). Each guide below walks through one app in more detail.
