What Echo is for

Echo is for short, lesson-tied revision — usually a handful of multiple-choice questions from what you taught today. Foundry is different: longer skill-pathway diagnostics across a subject. Use Echo for quick checks; use Foundry when you want a broader gap map.

You describe the lesson in one box (topic, must-cover ideas, notes, and links if you have them), and Isotopic Learning generates a small MCQ pack. Choose Practice (goes to Module Playground → Class practice) or Proper assessment (goes to Workshop). Students can also keep private packs via Student Lab → Your practice. When they miss a question, Echo can offer a short upskill read and one retry.

What Echo (and Socrates) draw on

Echo questions and Socrates lines are grounded in real teaching context — not a generic chat. When you draft a pack, the generator uses:

What was learned today — your lesson notes, including any must-cover ideas, pasted notes, and links in the same box
The class and student year level you are creating in
In Playground, resources the student adds for that week

Optional learning video (Explainer)

On create, you can attach a short Learning video (Explainer) — script, diagrams, and voice. Generation usually takes a few minutes; you can leave the page. Videos are kept for about seven days. You can Assign to class while the video is still building; the task card shows Video generating until it is ready, then Watch video. Use Download video if the player stays black on iPad.

You do not need to wait on the create screen. Assign, keep teaching, and the card refreshes when the video is ready.

Super-Loop is an optional habit on Echo plus a learning video — preview from 3.00 pm the day before class, then regenerate questions after class. In schools the teacher sets one sequence for the class. On Indi, Learners build their own. Everyday Echo works without it. See Playground → Super-Loop, or Indi families → Super-Loop.

Typical flow

Open your Module → Lab → Assign Echo pack (Module is already selected when you open Lab from the Module).
Set lesson material (topic, must-cover ideas, notes, and links in one box — or upload a file), subject, year level, Practice or Proper assessment, Allow Oracle, and an optional due date. For a class Super-Loop, choose Practice, tick Super-Loop, and set the class day.
Optional: Generate video under Learning video (Explainer).
Assign — Practice goes to Playground Class practice; Proper assessment goes to Workshop; or Save to Playground for a private pack.
Students complete the MCQs. On a miss, they may see diagnostics, a short upskill paragraph, and one retry.
On a second miss, Echo underlines the answer span, offers one Socrates line, then asks a quick self-check — without opening a long chat.

Socrates in Echo is deliberately brief: one guided line after a second miss, then the student moves on. Spark and Flux offer a fuller coaching conversation. Echo is meant to close a gap quickly and return to the pack.
